Day 92 Ulaan Bataar and on to Siberia

Surprisingly, the train onward to Irkutsk in Russia was fully booked yesterday, so we're booked to leave tonight. Irkutsk is only 1100km from UB but somehow takes two nights and arrives in time for breakfast on the second day.
This morning involved Helen researching and booking our tickets for the ferry and trains through Scandinavia and down to Europe. Shane set up a quiz on the Forbidden City in Beijing for the kid's home school.
Whilst we've been here we've found a fascinating game particular to Mongolia - Ankle Bones. It's a game where players toss ankle bones from sheep or goats. Dependant on the way they fall, the pieces are identified as one of either camel, horse, sheep or goat. It's requires accurate flicking of the pieces and some degree of strategy.
The pieces we played with during yesterday's stay in the ger still had gristle on them. Hmmm.
Our kind driver from our trip to the ger gave our kids a bag of bones to take away. I wonder if they'll get through Aussie customs...

We went food shopping for our train journey.

On reflection, some of the meat looked pretty unusual during our stay in the ger...
Shane's brother, Paul, sent us a message saying he wasn't impressed that Lee got to drink Mongolian beer before he did!
